Calling All Train Enthusiasts!

Well, it's the 1st of July, and this month, something exciting is happening in Quorn South Australia. The 50th anniversary of the Pichi Richi Railwayociety's first train run is being celebrated at Pichi Richi RailFest - 2024n the 27th and 28th of July, 2024.

 Event Highlights:

     Authentic Steam & Diesel Heritage Rides: Experience the thrill of traveling on the original Ghan line through the stunning Pichi Richi Pass. Enjoy the unique scenery from historic steam and diesel trains.


     Living Museum: The Pichi Richi Railway is a preserved, historic, and authentic operating museum, offering a glimpse into the golden age of rail travel.


 Family Fun: The festival promises plenty of activities for all ages, including locomotive workshop tours, shuttle services, and delightful Devonshire Teas.


Model Train Displays: Marvel at intricate model train displays showcasing detailed miniature landscapes and trains.


 Sunday Markets: Enjoy the vibrant Sunday markets in town, featuring local crafts, food, and unique finds.


 About the Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society Inc.:


The Pichi Richi Railway Preservation Society Inc. is a wonderful not-for-profit organization run by dedicated volunteers. Their hard work and passion have kept this historic railway alive, allowing visitors to experience the magic of heritage rail travel. The Pichi Richi Railway proudly won Silver at the 2023 South Australian Tourism Awards in the Tourist Attractions category.


 Ticket Information:

     Saturday: Train rides vary depending on the train and ticket type (Adult, Concession, or Child).

     Sunday: Locomotive Workshop Tours and Shuttle services ($10 per head), Devonshire Teas ($12.50 per head).

     Free Activities: All other activities at RailFest are free of charge.
