This weekend, something truly special happened in South Australia—and just in time for Earth Day.
The Rain Moths (Abantiades atripalpis) emerged in spectacular numbers, and we were lucky enough to capture rare footage and photos of them mating. These fascinating moths live underground as larvae for years, then emerge as adults—only to live for just 24 hours.
Their appearance is brief, but breathtaking. Check out the video on our Facebook or instagram pages.
They’re known to signal rainfall and are a reminder of the quiet, powerful cycles of nature all around us.
Enjoy the photos and video we captured—it’s not every day you get to witness this once-in-a-lifecycle moment.
