Join us for #HistoryFriday as we highlight one of the garden's most iconic figures

—George William Francis!

Francis, appointed Superintendent in 1855, was a passionate botanist who campaigned tirelessly for the creation of the Adelaide Botanic Garden. His vision has left an everlasting impact on South Australia’s natural heritage.

His memorial stands tall as a tribute to his dedication to botany and his love for our state.

A huge thank you to George William Francis for his visionary work!
