Friday morning 21/10/2022 Radio 5MU broadcasted their breakfast show live from Bombora Goolwa - yes Adam and Jennie were there to showcase the upcoming weekend event that is happening. Adelaide Style Accommodation were fortunate to be invited and in attendance and the food from Bombora Goolwa was delicious, thank you to the fabulous owner and staff. Adam also interviewed us briefly to talk about the business (did you hear it?) Thank you everyone at Radio 5MU and the music was GREAT.
With a beautiful outlook of the River - It was a perfect morning on the water. We encourage you to get along to Goolwa, South Australia on Saturday and/or Sunday and enjoy this classic speedboat event.
It’s a weekend full of the sights and sounds of beautiful vintage, classic and modern race & speedboats strutting their stuff at the Goolwa Aquatic Club on Barrage Road, Goolwa. You will see vintage wooden hydroplanes, skiffs, classic old wooden race, and ski boats, plus fibreglass classic race & ski boats right up to modern style race boats. There will be some demonstration runs by at least one blown alcohol boat which will be spectacular in itself. When not in the water the boats will be on display in the pit area and accessible to the public who want a closer look.
The event is fully catered and family friendly with food stalls and the lawned banks for spectators to set up and get comfortable. The clubrooms are licensed, and Bombora on the River is adjacent for those that want to eat in style (recommend that you book) This is a two-day event and admission is FREE both days. This is a full two-day event with the boats taking part in formalised heats where common styles of craft take to the water and put on a demonstration of the golden years of speedboat events.
On Saturday morning the boats are free to practice as they please and it is designed to be a relaxed atmosphere for the entrants. Saturday afternoon will see each boat group have a four-lap demo run.
Sunday is a full day of back-to-back heats with spirited driving demonstrations. Weather permitting there is a Hot Rod & Classic car display. Top all that of with a vintage aeroplane flyover buzzing the crowd, and it’s an action-packed day on land, on the water and in the air.
It’s a fantastic family day with something for everyone to enjoy.
